Michael Dunlop made a triumphant return to the Tandragee 100 road races, securing a big bike double with victories in both the Open and feature races. Riding his MD Racing BMW Superstock machine, Dunlop edged out Michael Sweeney by a mere 0.4 seconds in the Open race, while Conor Cummins clinched third place after a thrilling final corner battle.
In the Tandragee 100 six-lapper, Dunlop dominated once again, finishing 8 seconds ahead of Sweeney. His final circuit saw him set a new absolute course record of 111.584mph, further cementing his legacy in motorsport. Both Dunlop and Sweeney shattered the previous lap record multiple times during the event, showcasing their exceptional skill and speed.
Dunlop, a 33-time Isle of Man TT winner, demonstrated his prowess from the start, moving into second place by the end of the second lap with the fastest lap of the race at 108.933mph. By the third lap, he had taken the lead, maintaining a narrow but decisive advantage over Sweeney.
The feature race was no less dramatic, with Dunlop setting the pace early on. Despite Sweeney's relentless pursuit, Dunlop extended his lead with a lap of 110.497mph, eventually finishing with a commanding five-second lead. Shaun Anderson secured third place after Conor Cummins overshot at Bell's Crossroads.
In the Supersport class, Mike Browne claimed a double victory, establishing a 7.65-second lead by the third lap and managing it expertly to finish 3.5 seconds ahead of Dunlop. Meanwhile, Darryl Tweed triumphed in the Supertwins race after a thrilling battle with Sweeney, who made a critical error at the final corner.
The Tandragee 100 marked its return after a hiatus due to essential resurfacing work, delivering an unforgettable weekend of high-speed action and record-breaking performances.
