At just 19 years old, Alex Dunne has taken a monumental step in his racing career by joining Rodin Motorsport for the 2025 Formula 2 season. This move brings him one step closer to his ultimate dream of competing in Formula 1. From Formula 3 to Formula 2
Dunne's rise through the motorsport ranks has been marked by consistent success. In his debut season in Formula 3, he secured two podium finishes while driving for MP Motorsport. His talent was further recognized when he was signed as a Development Driver by McLaren in May 2024, following their constructors' title win in Formula 1 that same year.
Testing the Waters
In December 2024, Dunne participated in the post-season Formula 2 test for Rodin Motorsport in Abu Dhabi. He showcased his potential by posting the third-fastest lap on the final day at the Yas Marina Circuit. This performance undoubtedly solidified his position within the team.
Team Dynamics and Expectations
Dunne will be partnered with Christian Mansell, an Australian driver who achieved a best finish of fifth in Formula 3. Benn Huntingford, Rodin's motorsport sporting director and team manager, expressed confidence in Dunne's abilities:

Beyond Formula 2
In addition to his Formula 2 commitments, Dunne will serve as a reserve driver for McLaren's Formula E team. He is also scheduled to participate in the rookie practice session in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on February 13, further diversifying his racing experience.
