Rising Star: Olive Nicholls Shines in the World of Horse Racing

Paul Nicholls, the renowned racehorse trainer, expressed immense pride in his daughter, Olive Nicholls, after she showcased her talent by riding two winners recently. At just 19 years old, Olive has made headlines by dominating the tracks, much to the delight of her family.

On December 21, Olive recorded her first win at Ascot aboard Thank You Ma’am, a horse trained by her mother, Georgie Nicholls. This triumphant moment followed her earlier victory on Him Malaya, trained by her father, at Taunton earlier in the month. Paul remarked, "She's riding well, she's coming along nicely," indicating excitement for his daughter’s bright future in racing.

All three of Mr. Nicholls’ daughters embrace their family's equestrian legacy. Zara has pursued showjumping passionately, while former jockey Megan now shines as an ITV Racing presenter. Paul noted, "They've all been heavily involved in it all the way along the line," showcasing the family’s deep-rooted connection to the sport.

Following Olive’s win at Ascot, Paul fondly revealed, "She beat us, so I was proud of her." Olive herself described the experience of winning aboard Thank You Ma’am as extraordinary, calling the horse "really special" due to its hard-earned efforts, noting, "He’s really, really deserved to get a winner."

Recalling her journey, Olive shared, "I've always been around horses. It's all I've ever known really." She fondly remembered her time in eventing as a child but gravitated towards racing at the age of 16, solidifying her place in the family industry.

Excited about the future, Olive confirmed her ambition to become a trainer. "I love the training side of it," she stated, emphasizing her strong collaboration with her mother, Georgie. "Mum and dad are so different; it’s very helpful seeing both sides of it."
