Jonbon Claims Victorious Win in the Clarence House Chase
Jonbon dominates the Clarence House Chase, solidifying his status as a top contender for the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Jonbon demonstrated his exceptional talent and remarkable endurance as he raced to victory in the prestigious Clarence House Chase at Ascot, overpowering his main competitor, Energumene, by an impressive six and a half lengths.
This triumphant performance marks Jonbon's ninth Grade One victory, with the odds favoring him at 8-13, and follows a legendary win in the Tingle Creek last December. As the first horse in 18 years to secure back-to-back wins in this event, following in the esteemed footsteps of Kauto Star, Jonbon is undoubtedly positioning himself as a favorite for the upcoming Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham.
The race highlighted the strategic prowess of jockey Nico de Boinville who, mindful of last year's unexpected fall to Elixir De Nutz, took control from the start. Despite not planning to lead the race initially, Jonbon's enthusiasm was unmistakable, pushing De Boinville into an assertive position right from the gate. "What a horse," exclaimed trainer Nicky Henderson during his interview with ITV Sport. "He was very fresh and nearly too much on it. Nico set off with only one intention; it was a brave way to do it, and the right way to do it. The horse loves it."
Finishing second was Energumene, who was a 9-4 underdog, with Edwardstone taking third place in the four-horse competition, followed closely by Boothill. This latest performance not only cements Jonbon's elite status but also intensifies the excitement leading up to the Champion Chase, where fans and pundits alike will eagerly await his next contest.
