Hill Shines Bright with Bronze at Para-Snowboarding World Cup Opener
Ollie Hill secures bronze at the Para-snowboard World Cup in the Netherlands, showcasing resilience after a challenging start.

In an electrifying season opener for the Para-snowboard World Cup held in the picturesque Netherlands, Britain's own Ollie Hill claimed a commendable bronze medal in the LL2 banked slalom. With a time of 34.80 seconds, Hill expertly navigated the course, finishing just 0.19 seconds ahead of American rival Zach Miller, who narrowly missed out on a podium spot.
This successful performance marks a continuation of Hill's ascent in the sport, following his historic achievement at the 2022 Tokyo Paralympics, where he earned Great Britain's first-ever medal in Paralympic snowboarding by securing third place in the same event.
Reflecting on his experience, the 35-year-old athlete shared, "I was happy but disappointed yesterday to get fourth. I knew I needed to sort myself out today and work on a few of the mistakes we had yesterday." His determination was evident as he faced early challenges, having crashed during the training run. However, Hill demonstrated remarkable resilience, stating, "I managed to get stronger and stronger throughout the day, and the time when it needed to count the most, I put down a heater when I needed to."
The competition was fierce, with Italy's Emmanuel Peranthoner dominating both days by clinching gold ahead of Australia's Ben Tudhope. In the men's UL category, James Barnes-Miller secured fourth place, while Matt Hamilton finished eighth. Furthermore, in the women's LL1/LL2 race, Nina Sparks placed eighth.
Hill’s performance underscores the competitive spirit and talent present in the world of adaptive sports, and fans are eager to see how he builds on this momentum in the upcoming competitions.
