Ingram Clinches Historic Double Title in British Rally Championship
Chris Ingram makes history by winning both the British and European Rally Championship titles, defeating William Creighton at the Cambrian Rally.

Chris Ingram has etched his name into the annals of motorsport history by becoming the first driver ever to win both the British Rally Championship and the European Rally Championship titles. His stunning victory at the Cambrian Rally not only secured him the British title but also solidified his status as a dominant force in rally racing.
Ingram, who previously claimed the European title in 2019, faced a fierce challenge from his nearest rival, William Creighton. The stakes couldn't have been higher; it was a cutthroat race that turned out to be a true winner-takes-all shootout in the scenic Welsh landscape. After four intense stages, Ingram managed to create a slender lead, holding onto a mere five seconds over Creighton.
The tension escalated as Creighton, a promising talent from Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy, remained close in pursuit. However, Ingram showcased his exceptional skill and determination, widening the gap in the final two stages to not only clinch top honors for the rally but also the overall championship title.
Post-race, an elated Ingram expressed his relief and joy, stating that securing the British title capped an “amazing season.” He remarked, “Will has pushed so hard today, and we have had to give it everything we had. It's not been an easy season, but that really adds to the story for us. It's been amazing competition.”
While Creighton, competing in his first full season in Rally2 machinery after winning the Junior WRC title in 2023, praised the challenges he faced throughout the year. He remarked, “It's been a difficult year, stepping up into the Rally2 car has been amazing and to compete at the top of the British Rally Championship, we are very lucky.”
Oisin Pryce, another promising driver, finished third in the race, while Keith Cronin, who had a slim chance at the championship, faced an unfortunate mechanical issue early on and had to retire.
Overall, Ingram’s victory not only reflects his incredible talent but also marks a thrilling chapter in the world of rally racing, bringing excitement and anticipation for what’s next in his ambition for the World Rally Championship.
