Luke Shaw Endorses Ruben Amorim's Rigorous Standards at Manchester United
Luke Shaw supports Ruben Amorim's strict approach to improving Manchester United's team culture, emphasizing the need for a positive and demanding environment.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has publicly supported head coach Ruben Amorim's stringent methods aimed at overhauling the club's internal culture. Following a disappointing season that saw United finish 15th in the Premier League and miss out on European qualification, Amorim has implemented rigorous standards to elevate team performance and discipline.
Shaw, who has been with the club since 2014, described the past environment as "toxic" and "unhealthy," stressing the necessity for a transformation. "We need an environment that's healthy, that's positive, that's got good energy and happiness," Shaw stated. "When you have all those things, you feel free and you express yourself more."
Amorim's approach includes enforcing 100% commitment from every player, regardless of their status. "He demands 100% and doesn't want anything less," Shaw explained. "If someone's doing 85-90%, it's not enough. I think, especially this year, if you're not doing the right things, you won't play."
The 30-year-old defender also highlighted the role of senior players in maintaining these standards. "The more experienced ones need to be demanding more, day in, day out," he said. "The levels in training, keeping to the times of when we're doing this or that, making sure no-one's coming late."
Shaw's comments come in the wake of a challenging season that left many questioning the team's future. Reflecting on the emotional aftermath of their Europa League final defeat, Shaw admitted, "I wouldn't say I regret what I said but straight after the game, your head is hot, you say things and don't think about it."
Despite the difficulties, Shaw remains optimistic about the changes under Amorim, believing that a disciplined and unified approach will lead to better results. "Whatever he wants, as players, we have to be delivering – and we are fully behind that," he concluded.
