Stage 11 of the Tour de France delivered high drama as Jonas Abrahamsen of Uno-X Mobility secured his first-ever stage win, while reigning champion Tadej Pogacar survived a late crash without losing time.

In a thrilling finale in Toulouse, Abrahamsen edged out Mauro Schmid in a two-up sprint, with Mathieu van der Poel crossing the line seven seconds later. The Norwegian rider, who recently recovered from a collarbone injury, described the victory as a dream come true.

Meanwhile, Pogacar, the Slovenian star, crashed 4km from the finish but was quickly back on his bike. His main rivals, Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel, sportingly waited for him to rejoin the peloton, ensuring no time loss in the general classification.

The stage began at a blistering pace, averaging 52km in the first hour, with multiple splits forming in the peloton. A five-man breakaway, including British rider Fred Wright, set the tone for the day. The stage also featured five categorised climbs, with two in the final 14km, adding to the challenge.

Van der Poel, who had worn the yellow jersey earlier in the race, launched a late attack but fell short of claiming his second stage win this year. The day was not without controversy, as a protester briefly disrupted the race near the finish line.

With the race now heading into the Pyrenees, the competition is set to intensify. Ben Healy retains the yellow jersey, leading Pogacar by 29 seconds in the general classification. The next stage promises more excitement as the riders tackle a gruelling mountain route from Auch to Hautacam.
