Tino Livramento: Rising Star with a Bright Future and World Cup Dreams
Explore Tino Livramento's journey from England U21 to potential World Cup squad inclusion, his development at Newcastle, and insights from Ashley Cole.

Tino Livramento has been making waves in the football world, showcasing his talent and versatility on the field. Recently, former England left-back Ashley Cole praised Livramento, stating that the young defender has "a beautiful and bright future" and can reach "whatever level he wants." Cole, who is currently the assistant coach for the England Under-21s, spoke highly of Livramento after his standout performance in England's 3-1 victory over the Czech Republic in the Under-21 European Championship.
Livramento's Journey and Development
Livramento, who is just 22 years old, has already made a significant impact at Newcastle United. Cole, who worked with Livramento during his time at Chelsea, highlighted the player's passion and potential. "He was in the under-21s, in the reserve group at Chelsea," Cole recalled. "You always see the passion and level he could get to."
Since joining Newcastle, Livramento has been given the opportunity to play first-team football, which has boosted his confidence and belief in his abilities. Cole emphasized the importance of having a manager who trusts young players, stating, "A manager that's trusted him to play at such a young age. I think he had quite a big challenge going to Newcastle, but he's developing into a top player."
Versatility and World Cup Prospects
One of Livramento's key strengths is his versatility. Although he is a natural right-back, he has often played on the left side for Newcastle this season. This adaptability could be crucial for his chances of making Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad next summer. With England's senior team facing a shortage of natural left-backs, Livramento's ability to play on either flank makes him a valuable asset.
Cole also praised Livramento's willingness to learn and improve. "As a coach, you stand on the sideline and see how much information he takes on board," Cole said. "The willingness to want to learn and be the best, I think is always a great trait to have."
International Experience and Leadership
Livramento has already made one senior appearance for England, debuting under interim head coach Lee Carsley in November. He set up Anthony Gordon's second goal in a 5-0 Nations League win against the Republic of Ireland. Although he was selected in Tuchel's first senior squad in March, he has since returned to the under-21s to take on a leadership role during the tournament.
Livramento expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, saying, "I see it as a privilege. Thomas [Tuchel] obviously spoke to me about the senior squad and said that he wanted to speak to Lee as well about giving me that role." He also acknowledged the importance of gaining tournament experience, especially after missing previous opportunities due to injuries.
Looking Ahead
Livramento's journey from Chelsea to Southampton and then to Newcastle has been marked by consistent growth and success. With 93 Premier League appearances to his name, a League Cup winner's medal, and a key role in Newcastle's Champions League qualification, Livramento is well on his way to becoming one of England's top defenders.
As the World Cup approaches, all eyes will be on Livramento to see if he can secure a spot in the squad. With his talent, versatility, and determination, the future looks incredibly bright for this young star.
