Jordan Nobbs, the WSL record appearance holder, joins Newcastle, aiming to elevate women's football in the North East.

Jordan Nobbs, the Women's Super League (WSL) record appearance holder, has made a significant move by joining Newcastle United following her release from Aston Villa. This transfer marks a new chapter for both Nobbs and the women's football scene in the North East of England.
A Career of Excellence
At 32, Nobbs boasts an impressive career, having made 208 appearances in the WSL and earning 71 caps for the England national team. Her journey began at Sunderland, and she later moved to Arsenal in 2010, where she won three WSL titles and four FA Cups over a span of 12 years. Nobbs scored 81 goals in 270 games before her stint at Aston Villa.
A New Challenge at Newcastle
Nobbs expressed her excitement about joining Newcastle, stating, "I think they are a very ambitious club and, speaking to everyone, the goal is to get promoted and push women's football in the north east. I want to be part of that." She emphasized her winning mentality, adding, "Every game is like a cup final. I want to be part of a successful club that pushes to the next level."
Manager's Perspective
Becky Langley, Newcastle's manager, highlighted Nobbs' experience and achievements. "Jordan's experience speaks for itself. She knows what it takes to win and has achieved so much in her career, both domestically and internationally. We are absolutely delighted that she is joining Newcastle United." Langley also noted that Nobbs has long been one of the best midfielders in the country and will bring a lot of quality to the squad.
Newcastle's Ambitions
Newcastle finished fifth in the Women's Championship, now rebranded as WSL2, last season. With Nobbs on board, the club aims to secure promotion and further develop women's football in the region.
This transfer not only strengthens Newcastle's squad but also signifies a step forward for women's football in the North East, as they look to make a mark in the upcoming season.
