Lossiemouth's Stunning Victory in Aintree Hurdle as Constitution Hill Stumbles Again
Lossiemouth triumphs in the Aintree Hurdle after favorite Constitution Hill falls for the second consecutive race, marking a dominant day for trainer Willie Mullins.

Aintree Hurdle Recap: Lossiemouth Seizes Victory
The opening day of the Grand National Meeting at Aintree delivered high drama as Lossiemouth, ridden by Paul Townend, claimed a thrilling victory in the Aintree Hurdle after the heavily favored Constitution Hill suffered another unexpected fall.
Constitution Hill's Struggles Continue
Trained by Nicky Henderson, Constitution Hill had been the overwhelming favorite but followed up his Cheltenham Champion Hurdle disappointment with another mishap at Aintree. Jockey Nico de Boinville appeared to have the horse in contention, but a mistimed jump saw the star hurdler crash out, leaving the race wide open.
Lossiemouth's Dominant Display
With the field opening up, Lossiemouth (owned by Rich and Susannah Ricci) surged ahead under Townend's expert guidance, securing a 2¾-length win over Wodhooh. This victory reinforced the mare’s credentials after her December defeat to Constitution Hill at Kempton.
Willie Mullins’ Masterclass
Trainer Willie Mullins enjoyed a spectacular day, sweeping the first four races:
- Impaire Et Passe (9-4) – Manifesto Novices' Chase
- Murcia (11-4) – Juvenile Hurdle
- Gaelic Warrior (11-4) – Bowl (ridden by amateur jockey Patrick Mullins)
Emotional Notes
The Ricci family faced mixed emotions after another of their runners, Willy De Houelle, suffered a fatal injury earlier in the Juvenile Hurdle, casting a shadow over their triumphs.
As the Grand National Meeting continues, all eyes will remain on Aintree for more thrilling racing action.
