Gatwick Racecourse: The first meeting at Gatwick racecourse was on 7 October 1891. It was a large circular track and even had an 18-hole golf course.
The Grand National: It was held at Gatwick between 1916 and 1918, becoming a center of the racing calendar during wartime.
Decline and Closure: The course closed permanently in 1950 and later became an airport. Only the ornate bandstand remains as a reminder of its past.
