Olga Ahtinen Chooses to Stay at Tottenham Despite Hammarby Interest
Tottenham midfielder Olga Ahtinen decides to stay with the club despite interest from Swedish side Hammarby, as confirmed by manager Robert Vilahamn.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Olga Ahtinen has opted to remain with the club, despite strong interest from Swedish side Hammarby. The 27-year-old Finnish international, who joined Spurs in 2023, has made only three starts in the Women's Super League this season, but her decision to stay has been welcomed by manager Robert Vilahamn.
Ahtinen had traveled to Sweden last week for a medical with Hammarby, and both clubs were believed to have reached an agreement in principle. However, the move has now fallen through, with Ahtinen expressing her desire to remain at Tottenham.
When questioned about the breakdown of the transfer, Vilahamn stated, "She wanted to stay. I didn't want to push her away and I'm happy to have her here. That's why she's staying." He further added, "I like Olga as a player, I think she brings something to us all of the time. But if there is a chance that a club wants to buy her and she wants to leave then we will obviously listen to that."
Hammarby, who are preparing for the new season in the Damallsvenskan—the top tier of Swedish women's football—will now have to look elsewhere to strengthen their squad. Ahtinen's decision to stay at Tottenham could provide a boost to the team as they aim to improve their standing in the Women's Super League.
This development highlights the complexities of player transfers and the importance of personal choice in the world of professional football. Ahtinen's commitment to Tottenham underscores her belief in the club's vision and her role within the team.
