Glenn Maxwell and Alyssa Healy, two of Australia's finest cricketers, have officially entered the draft, reigniting their association with the 100-ball competition. Both players were pivotal in the 2022 season, representing London Spirit and Northern Superchargers respectively.
Maxwell, known for his explosive batting and handy off-spin, is up for grabs with a reserve price of £120,000. London Spirit, having the first men's pick, might just bring him back to the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground. On the women's side, Birmingham Phoenix will have the first opportunity to secure Healy, whose leadership and wicketkeeping prowess are unmatched.
Adding to the excitement, David Warner is set to make his debut in The Hundred after going undrafted in 2024. He joins a formidable Australian contingent that includes Josh Inglis and Adam Zampa, both of whom are expected to attract significant interest.
International stars from other nations are also in the mix. The West Indies trio of Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard, and Shimron Hetmyer, along with South Africa's speedster Anrich Nortje and New Zealand's rising star Rachin Ravindra, are all available. Notably, Afghanistan's Noor Ahmad boasts the highest reserve price at £200,000.
In the women's draft, India's Richa Ghosh is back after successful stints with London Spirit and Birmingham Phoenix in the past two years. New Zealand captain Sophie Devine, Sri Lanka's Chamari Athapaththu, and Australia's Kim Garth are also among the international stars up for grabs.
Domestic players like Rehan Ahmed, Sophia Dunkley, and James Anderson add depth to an already competitive draft pool. The much-anticipated tournament kicks off on 5 August with a double-header featuring London Spirit and Oval Invincibles at Lord's.
