Grace Harris Powers London Spirit to Thrilling Victory in The Hundred Women's Competition
Grace Harris's unbeaten 50 leads London Spirit to a thrilling three-wicket victory over Manchester Originals in The Hundred Women's Competition.

Grace Harris once again proved her mettle as she guided London Spirit to a nail-biting three-wicket victory against Manchester Originals at Old Trafford in The Hundred Women's Competition. The defending champions, who are enjoying a perfect start to the season with three wins from three matches, were in a spot of bother at 56-3 after 59 balls. However, Harris's unbeaten 50 off 32 balls, including a flurry of boundaries, steered the Spirit to victory with two balls to spare.
Harris, who is now the leading run-scorer in the women's competition with 157 runs in three innings, played a pivotal role in the chase. Despite losing the strike towards the end, Kathryn Bryce dismissed Issy Wong and Charlie Dean in consecutive deliveries, leaving the Spirit needing nine runs from the final six balls. Sarah Glenn, who had earlier taken a tidy 1-18, edged the hat-trick ball for four and drove the winning runs to remain unbeaten on 10.
Earlier in the match, the Spirit bowlers kept the Originals in check, limiting them to a below-par total of 122-6. New Zealand international Melie Kerr was run out for one, and Spirit captain Charlie Dean halted a counter-attack by Originals skipper Beth Mooney, who scored 26 off 20 balls. West Indies international Deandra Dottin top-scored with 36 off 30 balls but was caught on the final ball of the innings.
Harris's innings was a masterclass in handling pressure. After a slow start, she found her rhythm and hit crucial boundaries to swing the momentum in her team's favor. With 42 needed from 22 balls, Harris hit a head-high full toss from Dottin for four and flicked the subsequent free-hit for six. A difficult chance at the boundary was tipped over for six, effectively sealing the game for the Spirit.
The Originals, with one win and two defeats from their first three matches, are already eight points behind the Spirit, who continue to lead the competition. Harris's all-round performance has been instrumental in the Spirit's winning streak, and she remains a key player to watch as the tournament progresses.
