Lunar Owls 79, Rose 70
Skylar Diggins-Smith hit her second game-winning shot in as many days, this time a winning free throw, to score all nine of her points in the second half. Napheesa Collier finished with a game-high 31 points for the Lunar Owls, who improved to 2-0.
Laces 86, Phantom 48
Kayla McBride led the Laces with a game-high 28 points, shooting 7-for-15 from beyond the arc. The Laces improved to 2-0 with the win.
What to watch moving forward
Will TNT have to deal with longer games, or will Unrivaled tweak any rules to speed things up further? It'll be interesting to see whether anything else about the game format is adjusted -- midseason or perhaps leading into Year 2 -- now that we've seen how it works.
Key takeaways
-
The Lunar Owls are 2-0 and look like the team to beat early on.
-
The Laces are also 2-0 and have shown they can shoot the ball well from deep.
-
The Rose have dropped their first two games and will need to figure things out quickly if they want to stay competitive.
-
Unrivaled's free throw rules seem to be well-received so far for speeding up the game, but they also amplify every make and miss.
Up next
The Lunar Owls will take on the Laces on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET in the final game of the weekend.
