St. John's Red Storm and Rick Pitino Join Jimmy Fallon for a NCAAM Tournament Anthem on 'The Tonight Show'

The St. John's Red Storm are sailing into the NCAA tournament with high hopes and full force. The team made a special appearance on The Tonight Show hosted by Jimmy Fallon, where they performed a humorous parody of the sea shanty Soon May the Wellerman Come to express their ambitions for the upcoming Big Dance. The event saw Coach Rick Pitino join in the fun, donning his iconic white suit alongside Fallon.

Soon May the Wellerman Come is a traditional New Zealand folk ballad that recounts a whaling ship's hunt for a right whale. The song experienced a resurgence in popularity in early 2021 after British musician Nathan Evans' rendition went viral on TikTok.

The Red Storm are currently ranked No. 6 with an impressive 26-4 record, leading the Big East. This marks their first NCAA tournament appearance since the 2018-19 season and their first time in the AP Top 10 since 1999-00. Bracketology projections place St. John's as a 3-seed in the South Regional. The team is set to face off against the No. 20 Marquette Golden Eagles this Saturday.
