The team made a special appearance on The Tonight Show hosted by Jimmy Fallon, where they performed a humorous parody of the sea shanty Soon May the Wellerman Come to express their ambitions for the upcoming Big Dance. The event saw Coach Rick Pitino join in the fun, donning his iconic white suit alongside Fallon.
Soon May the Wellerman Come is a traditional New Zealand folk ballad that recounts a whaling ship's hunt for a right whale. The song experienced a resurgence in popularity in early 2021 after British musician Nathan Evans' rendition went viral on TikTok.
The Red Storm are currently ranked No. 6 with an impressive 26-4 record, leading the Big East. This marks their first NCAA tournament appearance since the 2018-19 season and their first time in the AP Top 10 since 1999-00.
