Savannah Marshall Withdraws from Jonas-Price Undercard: A Fighter's Frustration
Savannah Marshall shares her disappointment after being sidelined from the upcoming boxing event, citing communication issues with promoters.

Savannah Marshall's Unexpected Withdrawal
In a surprising turn of events, Savannah Marshall, the reigning super-middleweight world champion, announced that she will not be participating in the much-anticipated undercard of the Natasha Jonas vs. Lauren Price fight scheduled for March 7 in London. Initially slated to fight on the all-women card at the historic Royal Albert Hall, Marshall expressed her frustration through an emotional Instagram post.
Marshall, 33 years old, stated, "I was told an opponent had been agreed upon, and I have been training diligently since December 14. I was even invited to London for a press conference where I expected my fight to be officially announced."
However, instead of receiving the respect she felt she deserved, Marshall reported being sidelined, leaving her feeling both humiliated and confused. "I honestly thought I would have been treated with a bit more respect," she lamented, hinting at ongoing disputes with her promotional company, Boxxer.
Boxxer's Response
In response to Marshall's comments, Boxxer acknowledged that they had attempted to reach an agreement with her management but were ultimately unsuccessful. "We made her an offer to fight on the Jonas-Price undercard, but we could not come to an agreement with her management. We've always valued our relationship with Savannah, and we hope to collaborate again in the future," said a spokesperson from Boxxer.
Marshall's Recent Achievements
Savannah Marshall made headlines for headlining Boxxer’s last all-women card back in October 2022, where she fought her longtime rival, Claressa Shields. Although she lost that fight, she bounced back triumphantly, securing the title of undisputed super-middleweight champion against Franchon Crews-Dezurn in July 2023. Since her last fight, Marshall has taken a break from boxing, exploring opportunities in MMA.
As the boxing community awaits her next move, the spotlight remains on the Jonas-Price event, which promises to showcase an exciting array of talent on its undercard, featuring notable bouts such as:
- Caroline Dubois vs. Bo Mi Re Shin - WBC lightweight world title (10x2min rounds)
- Karriss Artingstall vs. Raven Chapman - Featherweight bout (10x2min rounds)
- Cindy Ngamba vs. Kirstie Bavington - Light-middleweight (8x2min rounds)
