Courtney-Bryant Dominates Boston with World-Leading 3,000m Performance
Melissa Courtney-Bryant sets a new world-leading time in the 3,000m at the World Athletics Indoor Tour in Boston.

Thrilling Victory in Boston
Great Britain's Melissa Courtney-Bryant delivered a breathtaking performance at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting held in Boston, clocking the fastest 3,000m time in the world for 2025. The 31-year-old athlete, a seasoned competitor and two-time European indoor bronze medallist, achieved an impressive personal best of 8:28.69 seconds.
Courtney-Bryant's victory was not just a showcase of speed; she finished a remarkable over one second ahead of American runner Elise Cranny, underlining her elite status in middle-distance running. This achievement positions her as the second-fastest Briton ever in the 3,000m distance, with only Laura Muir ahead at 8:26.41 seconds.
In addition to Courtney-Bryant's stellar performance, the race featured other notable competitors, including Georgia Bell, the Olympic 1500m bronze medallist, who finished sixth with a personal best time of 8:36.96 seconds. Bell’s compatriot, Hannah Nuttall, also made headlines by securing a new PB of 8:40.01, showcasing the depth of talent in British athletics.
A Strong Showing from Other Athletes
The event saw several exciting moments, including Dina Asher-Smith, who finished second in the 300m event, being outpaced by her training partner Julien Alfred, the reigning Olympic 100m champion.
However, not all athletes had the fortune of success. Jake Wightman, the 2022 world 1500m champion, had to miss the race in a bid to recover his form after an injury forced him out of the last year's Paris Olympics. The star athlete expressed on social media that his body struggled with the travel to America, reflecting the tough realities athletes sometimes face in their careers.
Upcoming Competitions
The stage is set for more thrilling encounters as the European Indoor Championships are slated to take place in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, from 6-9 March, followed by the much-anticipated World Indoors in Nanjing, China, from 21-23 March. Fans and athletes alike eagerly await these events as they continue to showcase the incredible talent present in the sport of athletics.
