Robinson-Thompson Shatters Course Record in Thrilling Bahrain Championship
Brandon Robinson-Thompson makes his mark by setting a new course record at the Bahrain Championship, showcasing his golfing prowess.

Brandon Robinson-Thompson made headlines at the Bahrain Championship by firing an impressive course record of 61 at the Royal Golf Club, taking a commanding three-shot lead after the first round.
The talented golfer from the Isle of Wight is in his debut season on the DP World Tour and expressed his elation with his performance in challenging weather conditions. Despite finishing with a bogey on the last hole, Robinson-Thompson reflected on his day with pride. "I didn't picture this outcome this morning when it was raining, and there was a forecast for strong winds," he shared.
His round was defined by a series of spectacular shots, including eight birdies and two eagles through the first 17 holes, bringing him to 56 strokes. Inched just one birdie away from matching the European Tour’s elusive 59 record, set by Oliver Fisher at the 2018 Portugal Masters, Robinson-Thompson ultimately recorded a 5 on the par-4 18th hole, feeling a mix of joy and disappointment. "It is my lowest round as a professional I'm pretty sure. I’m going to do a lot of the same stuff going forward," he added, showcasing his determination to build on this rare achievement.
Working alongside a new caddy who he describes as a great partner in strategy and execution, Robinson-Thompson is excited about the continued journey in the championship. "We'll be having a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to it," he stated confidently.
As the tournament unfolds, fellow Englishman Callum Tarren trails in second place at eight under, while a group of four, including Richie Ramsay from Scotland, sits two shots behind him. The stage is set for an exhilarating competition as Robinson-Thompson aims to capitalize on his remarkable start.
