Islam Makhachev Aims for History: Triple Crown in the UFC
Islam Makhachev is determined to become a three-division champion in the UFC, eyeing the featherweight title after his latest victory.

Following his impressive title defense against Renato Moicano at UFC 311, Islam Makhachev has made it crystal clear that he aims for greatness in the UFC by targeting a three-weight championship.
Unstoppable Force
The 33-year-old lightweight champion has been on a remarkable run, having not lost a fight since 2015. With his fourth consecutive title defense, Makhachev has set a new record, surpassing legends like Khabib Nurmagomedov and BJ Penn. Not only does this underscore his dominance in the lightweight division, but it also adds to the legacy he is building in the sport.
Eyes Set on Featherweight
Speaking after his recent victory, Makhachev expressed his desire to capture a second belt by moving to featherweight, currently held by the unbeaten Ilia Topuria. "I don’t know when it’s going to happen, but I’m not leaving this sport without a second belt," he stated resolutely. His ambition goes beyond just two titles; he’s ready to tackle a third division to further etch his name in UFC history.
A Challenge Ahead
Topuria wasted no time in calling out Makhachev for a title fight, claiming confidence in his ability to take him down if the opportunity arises. UFC President Dana White has acknowledged Makhachev's remarkable skills, labeling him the pound-for-pound best fighter in the organization. With a record of 15 consecutive wins, Makhachev believes he has what it takes to conquer any division.
Future Aspirations
Makhachev has also expressed a willingness to ascend to middleweight to challenge current champion Dricus du Plessis. "I can be three division also. Just give me the chance," he emphasized, showcasing his eagerness to fight for higher accolades.
As UFC continues to evolve, fans eagerly anticipate Makhachev’s next steps and whether he will successfully navigate his path to becoming the first three-division champion in UFC history.
