Pierre Gasly Secures Long-Term Future with Alpine Until 2028

Pierre Gasly extends his contract with Alpine until 2028, solidifying his role as the team's lead driver and signaling a strong future for the French F1 team.

Pierre Gasly has officially extended his contract with Alpine, committing to the team until the end of the 2028 Formula 1 season. The 29-year-old French driver, who joined Alpine in 2023, has already secured two podium finishes and has been a key asset to the team's growth and competitiveness.

A Strategic Move for Alpine

Alpine's executive director, Flavio Briatore, expressed his confidence in Gasly, stating, "Since I returned to the team, I have always emphasized the importance of building a competitive Alpine F1 team. With Pierre's extension, we are well-prepared for the new era of F1 starting in 2026 and beyond."

Briatore praised Gasly's dedication and talent, highlighting his positive impact on the team during a challenging period. "Pierre has been an immense asset for the team. His attitude, dedication, and talent have been impressive, and we look forward to continuing this journey together," he added.

Gasly's Commitment to Alpine

Gasly, who previously raced for Red Bull's second team, AlphaTauri, and won the 2020 Italian Grand Prix, expressed his pride in representing a French car company. "As a Frenchman, driving for Alpine is a source of immense pride. Since joining in 2023, I have always felt that this team is the right place for my future," Gasly said.

The Search for a Second Driver

While Gasly's future is secure, Alpine has yet to finalize their second driver for the 2026 season. The seat has been occupied by Argentine driver Franco Colapinto since the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in May. Colapinto replaced Australian Jack Doohan, who returned to a reserve driver role after competing in the first six races of the season.

Alpine had hoped to secure a more experienced driver to partner with Gasly, but options have narrowed following the signings of Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez by the new Cadillac team.

Looking Ahead

With Gasly's extension, Alpine is poised to strengthen its position in Formula 1, focusing on the upcoming regulatory changes in 2026. The team's commitment to Gasly underscores their ambition to compete at the highest level in the years to come.
