West Ham's Emerson Palmieri Given Green Light to Depart Amid Squad Overhaul
West Ham United has informed defender Emerson Palmieri he can leave the club as they prepare for the Premier League Summer Series with new signings.

West Ham United has informed Italian left-back Emerson Palmieri that he is free to leave the club this summer. The 30-year-old defender, who joined the Hammers from Chelsea in 2022 for £15 million, has been deemed surplus to requirements following the arrival of new signings.
Emerson, a key figure in West Ham's historic Europa Conference League victory in 2023, made 31 Premier League appearances last season. However, the club's recent acquisitions of El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague and Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer have reduced his role in the squad.
The Hammers are currently competing in the Premier League Summer Series, where they will face Manchester United, Everton, and Bournemouth. Emerson was notably absent from the pre-season tour to the United States, with sources citing a minor back injury as the reason.
Emerson, who played 113 times for West Ham, was instrumental in their European success and remains a respected figure in the squad. However, with Graham Potter reshaping the team, the Italian international's future now lies elsewhere.
