Viktor Gyokeres Set to Seal £63.5m Arsenal Transfer This Weekend

Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres is poised to complete his £63.5m move to Arsenal from Sporting Lisbon this weekend, bolstering Mikel Arteta's attacking options.

Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres is expected to finalize his £63.5m transfer from Sporting Lisbon to Arsenal this weekend. The deal, which has been in the final stages of negotiation, was delayed due to discussions over add-on payments. The 27-year-old has been granted permission to travel for his medical and is set to sign a five-year contract with the Gunners.

Gyokeres has been a standout performer in recent seasons, scoring 54 goals in 52 games for Sporting last season, making him one of the most sought-after strikers in the summer transfer window. Arsenal's interest in Gyokeres intensified after they faced difficulties in signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

Manager Mikel Arteta has been keen to strengthen his attacking lineup after Arsenal scored 17 fewer goals than Liverpool in the previous Premier League season, finishing 10 points behind the champions. The addition of Gyokeres is expected to provide a significant boost to Arsenal's offensive capabilities.

Gyokeres' impressive track record includes 97 goals in 102 matches during his two seasons in Portugal, where he helped Sporting secure back-to-back Primeira Liga titles. Prior to his move to Portugal, he was one of the most prolific strikers in the Championship, scoring 43 goals in 116 appearances for Coventry City and earning a spot in the Championship Team of the Year in 2022-23.

With 26 caps and 15 goals for the Sweden national team, Gyokeres brings both experience and a proven goal-scoring ability to Arsenal. His arrival is expected to complement the recent signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea, further enhancing Arteta's attacking options as Arsenal prepare for the upcoming season.
