Stefanos Tsitsipas ends his coaching relationship with Goran Ivanisevic after a brief but intense period, aiming for a fresh start in his tennis career.

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Goran Ivanisevic Part Ways
Stefanos Tsitsipas, the Greek tennis sensation, has officially ended his coaching partnership with Goran Ivanisevic. This decision comes after a "brief but intense" period of collaboration that began in May 2025. Despite high hopes, the partnership yielded limited success, with Tsitsipas winning only one match during the grass-court season and suffering an early exit at Wimbledon.
The Journey So Far
Tsitsipas, who has been as high as number three in the world rankings, has struggled to maintain his form in recent years. His last significant Grand Slam performance was at the 2023 Australian Open, where he finished as the runner-up to Novak Djokovic. Since then, he has not progressed beyond the second round in any major tournament.
Ivanisevic's Perspective
Goran Ivanisevic, a former Wimbledon champion and long-time coach of Novak Djokovic, was critical of Tsitsipas' fitness levels. "I have never seen a more unprepared player in my life," Ivanisevic remarked after Tsitsipas' Wimbledon exit. "With this knee, I am three times more fit than him. This is really bad."
Tsitsipas' Statement
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Tsitsipas expressed his gratitude towards Ivanisevic. "I'm thankful for the time, effort, and energy Goran dedicated to me and my team," he wrote. "As we are now following our separate ways, I have only respect for Goran - not just for what he's achieved in tennis, but also for who he is as a person."
Looking Ahead
Tsitsipas is currently ranked 29th in the world and is looking to regain his former glory. Ivanisevic believes that Tsitsipas has the potential to return to the top if he addresses certain issues outside of tennis. "I've talked to him a lot of times. If he solves some things outside of tennis, then he'll return to where he belongs," Ivanisevic stated.
