Luke Littler Dominates World Matchplay with Stunning Performance
Luke Littler showcases his prowess in the World Matchplay, securing a spot in the last 16 with a commanding victory over Ryan Searle.

World champion Luke Littler made a spectacular entrance into the second round of the World Matchplay in Blackpool, defeating Ryan Searle with a decisive 10-2 victory. The 18-year-old, who had previously faced a first-round exit last year, was determined to make a strong comeback this season.
Littler's performance was nothing short of impressive, as he dominated from the start, winning the first four legs in just 48 darts. He maintained a stellar average of 108.92 and achieved a 52.6% checkout rate, leaving Searle, ranked 19th in the world, struggling to keep up.
"I felt very comfortable out there," Littler shared with Sky Sports. "I was well prepared for tonight, and I'm thrilled to have secured the win. It's a great feeling."
Littler's dedication to practice paid off, as he had been putting in extra hours at home to prepare for this tournament. His efforts were evident in his performance, and he is now eagerly anticipating his next match.
In the last 16, Littler will face Dutchman Jermaine Wattimena, who narrowly defeated 2021 champion Peter Wright 10-8. Meanwhile, other notable matches saw the 2019 winner Rob Cross exit after a 10-8 loss to Dirk van Duijvenbode, and the 2018 champion Gary Anderson advance with a 10-5 win over Luke Woodhouse.
This year's World Matchplay continues to deliver thrilling darts action, with Littler emerging as a formidable contender for the title.
