Chris Eubank Jr Declines Benn Rematch: Hearn Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Drama
Chris Eubank Jr refuses a rematch with Conor Benn, leaving fans and promoters in suspense. Discover the details behind the canceled fight.

A highly anticipated rematch between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr is unlikely to happen on September 20, according to promoter Eddie Hearn. Eubank secured a unanimous decision victory over Benn at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April, but the British fighters' planned September clash in London has hit a roadblock.
Hearn, who promotes Benn, revealed that Eubank has not agreed to the fight and "does not want it." This development follows reports that Riyadh Season and influential Saudi power broker Turki Alalshikh are no longer involved in the negotiations.
Benn expressed his disappointment in a statement to Ring Magazine, saying, "This rematch falling apart had nothing to do with me. I was ready to go on the scheduled Sept 20 date. I'm not sure what happened to Chris Eubank."
Hearn further elaborated on the situation in an interview with IFL TV: "We've said to Eubank that is the date. And if you don't take the fight on that date, the fight doesn't work. There are no stadiums available. Commercially you guys are on a fortune. So if Eubank is not prepared to take the fight on September 20, I don't think there will be a fight."
He added, "Eubank probably can't be bothered to go back into camp. I'm not sure if he'll ever fight again. I just got the feeling he just don't want it."
The April fight, which took place 35 years after their legendary fathers—Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn—first clashed, drew massive attention despite no title being at stake. The bout, held at the middleweight limit of 160lb, was overshadowed by weight cut and rehydration clauses.
Hearn previously stated that Benn would not consider new weight terms for a rematch. Eubank, 35, missed weight and was fined £375,000 but stayed under the 10lb rehydration limit on fight day. He was hospitalized for two days post-fight due to dehydration.
This month, Eubank was also fined £10,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control for "misuse of social media" during the fight's buildup. He posted several videos of his weight-cutting process, hinting at the use of a sauna.
