Gervonta Davis Faces Domestic Violence Charges Ahead of Crucial Boxing Rematch
WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis arrested on domestic violence charges, impacting his upcoming rematch with Lamont Roach Jr.

WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis was arrested on Friday on misdemeanor domestic violence charges related to an incident near Miami, Florida, on 15 June, Father's Day. Davis allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, the mother of two of his children, outside her home.
The 30-year-old was taken into custody in Miami but has since been released on $10,000 (£7,400) bond, with a court hearing scheduled for 29 July. This is not the first time Davis has faced such charges; he was previously arrested on battery domestic violence charges in February 2020 and December 2022.
In 2023, Davis served 44 days in jail after violating the terms of a 90-day house arrest sentence related to a criminal hit-and-run case in his hometown of Baltimore in November 2020.
Despite his legal troubles, Davis remains unbeaten in 31 professional fights. His most recent bout was a controversial draw with Lamont Roach Jr in March, and they are scheduled for a rematch on 16 August in Las Vegas. This rematch is highly anticipated, as both fighters aim to settle the score in the ring.
