Manchester City Bolsters Squad with German Midfielder Sydney Lohmann
Manchester City signs German midfielder Sydney Lohmann from Bayern Munich, aiming to strengthen their squad for the upcoming WSL season.

Manchester City has officially announced the signing of German midfielder Sydney Lohmann from Bayern Munich on a three-year deal. The 25-year-old, currently representing Germany at Euro 2025, brings a wealth of experience from her eight seasons in the Frauen-Bundesliga.
Lohmann expressed her excitement about the move, stating, "I have a really positive feeling here at Manchester City. I've always had the thought of playing abroad at some point in my career, and I just had the feeling that this year was the right time to do that."
Manchester City finished fourth in the Women's Super League (WSL) last season, missing out on the Champions League spots and trailing 17 points behind champions Chelsea. Lohmann is determined to help the team achieve greater success, saying, "I definitely want to win a title because I can see that's possible. I think things have probably been quite tough in the last few months or year, and everyone is really hungry to do better."
This signing marks City's third acquisition of the summer, following the arrivals of Iman Beney and Jade Rose. The club is clearly focused on building a competitive squad for the upcoming season.
