According to BBC Sport, Sunderland has paid an initial £18m (21m euros), with potential add-ons amounting to £2.5m (3m euros). Talbi, who was born in Belgium and represented the country at youth level, has pledged his international future to Morocco.
Talbi expressed his excitement about joining Sunderland, citing the allure of playing in the Premier League as a major factor in his decision. He stated, "I'm really looking forward to playing in the Premier League. It was a good project, a good team, a really exciting team with a lot of young players – so it motivated me to come here."
In the 2024-25 season, Talbi made a significant impact at Club Brugge, scoring 7 goals and providing 5 assists in 44 appearances. He also showcased his talent on the European stage, scoring 2 goals in 11 appearances in the Champions League.
