Paul Mullin Joins Wigan Athletic on Loan: A New Chapter for the Prolific Striker

Wigan Athletic secures Wrexham's top scorer Paul Mullin on loan for the 2025-26 League One season, aiming to bolster their attacking options.

Wigan Athletic have made a significant addition to their squad by securing Paul Mullin on loan from Wrexham for the 2025-26 League One season. The 30-year-old striker, known for his prolific goal-scoring record, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to the Latics.

Mullin joined Wrexham from Cambridge United in 2021 and quickly became a fan favorite, scoring 110 goals in 170 games across all competitions. His contributions were instrumental in Wrexham's back-to-back promotions from the National League to the Championship, under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Despite his success, Mullin faced challenges last season, starting only nine League One games and scoring three league goals due to a back injury that required surgery. However, he remains optimistic about his future at Wigan.

"I'm excited for the next part of my story," Mullin said. "The gaffer has outlined his plan for the season, and I'm hoping to take his trust into the season and make it a really successful one. As a player, I give absolutely everything and work as hard as I can."

Wigan Athletic's manager, Phil Parkinson, also expressed his confidence in Mullin's abilities. "It's a good opportunity for him to get back to playing regular first-team football, and I'm sure he's going to be a great signing for Wigan Athletic," Parkinson stated.

Mullin's loan move is seen as a strategic decision to provide him with more playing time and help Wigan Athletic strengthen their attack as they aim for a successful season in League One.
