Ben Flower Joins Wales Coaching Team Ahead of Rugby World Cup 2025

Former rugby league star Ben Flower joins Wales coaching team to enhance collision strategies ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2025.

Former rugby league prop Ben Flower has been appointed to the Wales women's coaching set-up as they gear up for the Rugby World Cup 2025 in England. The 37-year-old, known for his robust playing style, will focus on improving the team's collision area during their two-Test tour of Australia and the subsequent World Cup preparations.

Born in Cardiff, Flower has a rich history in rugby, having been capped 17 times for Wales and playing for renowned clubs like Crusaders, Wigan Warriors, and Leigh Centurions. His career highlights include winning the Challenge Cup, three Super League titles, and the World Club Challenge.

Flower's career was not without controversy; he received a six-month ban for an incident in the 2014 Super League Grand Final, marking the longest ban in the league's history. After retiring in 2021, he transitioned into coaching, leading the South Wales Jets and contributing to the Wales women's team at the last World Cup in New Zealand.

"This opportunity to assist Wales in their World Cup preparations is one I am eagerly anticipating," Flower remarked. "Being involved with Wales is always a privilege."

Sean Lynn, Wales head coach, emphasized the importance of Flower's role: "Ben has prior experience with this squad, and our review of the Women's Six Nations highlighted the need to enhance our collision work and overall dominance on both sides of the ball."

This strategic addition to the coaching staff aims to bolster Wales' performance in the upcoming Rugby World Cup, leveraging Flower's expertise and passion for the game.
