Paul Craig Aims for Thrilling Light-Heavyweight Comeback in UFC
Paul Craig targets an exciting victory in his UFC light-heavyweight return, facing Rodolfo Bellato in a highly anticipated match.

Paul Craig is set to make a significant return to the light-heavyweight division in the UFC, aiming not just for a win but for an exciting Paul Craig victory. Originally scheduled to fight Brazil's Rodolfo Bellato on 17 May, the bout was postponed due to Bellato's medical issues. The rearranged match is now set for this Saturday.
Craig, who moved from light-heavyweight to middleweight in 2023, struggled to find his footing in the new division, securing only one win from six bouts. Reflecting on this period, Craig shared, "We didn't really get running the way we should've and we ended up fighting some of the best guys in the middleweight division, it didn't go our way."
In preparation for his return, Craig and his team revisited their strategies. "We had a chat with managers, with coaches, with nutritionists and we said, 'listen, it may be a good idea for this last push of Paul's career to be a light-heavyweight'," Craig explained. He emphasized the importance of not just winning but delivering performances that captivate the audience: "It needs to be exciting wins and that's what I'm looking for on Saturday night - I need to get a victory, but a Paul Craig victory."
Craig, 37, is proud of his UFC career, having fought 20 times in the organization. He expressed his excitement about returning to his original division and the recognition he receives globally: "Anywhere in the world, not only in Scottish high streets, it's anywhere in the world people recognise me."
Regarding the four-week delay in the match, Craig believes both fighters have had time to improve. "I do believe we're a much better version of where we were four weeks ago. It's just been a blessing. Everything kind of happens for a reason, it's part of the plan," he stated. Craig also shared insights into his strategy against Bellato: "He's a very pressured fighter, looks to land heavy shots and he's a hard hitter. We need to make sure our footwork is good, we're switched on with that and use the distance manipulation to control this fight, ultimately resulting in us going to the ground and looking for a submission."
This match is not just another fight for Craig; it's a statement of his resilience and determination to reclaim his position in the light-heavyweight division. Fans and critics alike are eager to see if Craig can deliver the thrilling performance he promises.
