Lydia Walmsley's Triumph in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB Championship
Lydia Walmsley's switch to the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB Championship proves successful with her first Pro Series win at Brands Hatch.

Lydia Walmsley has made a significant impact in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB Championship after transitioning from racing Minis to rear-wheel drive cars. Her recent victory at Brands Hatch on 12 May marks a pivotal moment in her racing career.
Early Beginnings and Transition
Walmsley entered the motorsport world at the age of seven, starting with karting. Last year, she made history by becoming the first female driver to achieve a podium finish in the JCW Mini Challenge Championship. This season, she has stepped up to compete in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB Championship, driving the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.
Recent Success
After securing three second places at Donington Park, Walmsley clinched her first win in the Pro Series at Brands Hatch, followed by two more runner-up finishes. She is currently second in the Pro Series drivers' standings, trailing behind Jonathan Moore.
Championship Outlook
With four more rounds remaining, each featuring three races, Walmsley remains optimistic. She told BBC Radio Suffolk: "I think we're 10 points behind, which is not a lot really at this stage of the championship. It's definitely all still to play for."
Preparation for Oulton Park
The championship now moves to Oulton Park, one of Walmsley's favourite circuits. She plans to test the circuit next week to prepare for the race weekend on 21-22 June. "It always feels faster than others because of how narrow it is and how close the barriers are to the circuit," she added.
Future Prospects
Walmsley is focused on maintaining her performance and hopes to be in contention for the championship title. "I'm just trying to focus on every weekend and doing the best that we can," she said.
