CJ Fulton's NBA Dream: Timberwolves Pre-Draft Workout Invitation
Irish basketball player CJ Fulton has been invited to the Minnesota Timberwolves' pre-draft workout, aiming to impress before the 2025 NBA Draft.

Belfast's CJ Fulton has taken a significant step towards his NBA dream by securing an invitation to the Minnesota Timberwolves' pre-draft workout camp. The 22-year-old guard, who has been playing college basketball for the Charleston Cougars, is now one step closer to becoming the third Irish-born player to compete at the highest level in the United States, following in the footsteps of Pat Burke and Susan Moran.
A Promising Journey
CJ Fulton's basketball journey began at St Malachy's College and Belfast Star, where he played a pivotal role in helping the latter win the Basketball Ireland Super League title for the first time in 21 years in 2020. His talent earned him a move to the Winchendon School in Boston, and later, a collegiate scholarship with Pennsylvania-based Lafayette University.
College Success
After transferring to the Charleston Cougars, Fulton made his debut in the prestigious 'March Madness' tournament in 2024, following his team's victory in the CAA Conference Tournament. His performance on the court has not gone unnoticed, leading to this crucial opportunity with the Timberwolves.
Timberwolves' Ambitions
The Minnesota Timberwolves, who have reached the NBA's Western Conference finals in the past two seasons, are looking to bolster their roster with young talent. The team, which includes three-time All-Star guard Anthony Edwards, is keen to evaluate Fulton's potential before the 2025 NBA Draft on June 25-26.
A Historic Opportunity
If successful, Fulton would join an elite group of Irish-born players who have made their mark in the NBA. This pre-draft workout is not just a chance for Fulton to showcase his skills but also a testament to the growing influence of Irish basketball on the global stage.
