Malcolm Wilson, a former British rally champion and the managing director of M-Sport, has been nominated as the new deputy president for sport at the FIA. The 69-year-old was chosen by FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem to replace Robert Reid, who resigned two weeks ago. FIA members will vote on Wilson's nomination in June.
The move comes amid a series of controversies involving the FIA's governance. Reid resigned over what he saw as a breakdown in standards. Former FIA chief executive officer Natalie Robyn also commented on the situation.
Ben Sulayem praised Wilson's career and Wilson expressed his honor and eagerness to support the FIA's mission.
