Mona McSharry made a successful return to competitive swimming by winning the 100m breaststroke final at the Irish Championships, earning a place at the World Championships. Ellie McCartney put up a strong challenge. Olympic champion Daniel Wiffen continued his good form in the 400m freestyle. John Shortt from Galway had an outstanding swim in the 200m backstroke semi-final, smashing records.
