Derbyshire maintain dominance over Gloucestershire with commanding lead

Derbyshire remain firmly in control of their County Championship Division Two match against Gloucestershire, building a substantial lead despite a late fightback from the visitors.

Derbyshire captain Wayne Madsen scored his 40th first-class century to put his side in a commanding position against Gloucestershire. The 41-year-old's knock of 118 was his sixth against the county and came off 144 balls, including 14 fours and a six. He was well supported by Harry Came, who made 83, as Derbyshire reached 391, a lead of 169. In reply, Gloucestershire were 128-3 at the close of play, still 41 runs behind, with Ben Charlesworth unbeaten on 77. The hosts will be looking to wrap up the innings quickly on day three to secure a valuable victory.
