Ireland's rising rugby star Erin King has hailed her back row partners Aoife Wafer and Brittany Hogan as "among the world's best" following their impressive performances in the Women's Six Nations opener against France.
Standout Performances
- Aoife Wafer scored two tries in a superb individual display
- Brittany Hogan delivered crucial defensive contributions
- The trio's form pushed co-captain Edel McMahon to the bench
"I'm so lucky to be among some of the best back rowers in the world. I think they're dragging me along," said 21-year-old King, who was named World Rugby's Women's Breakthrough Player of the Year in November.
Team Dynamics King emphasized the competitive environment within the squad:
"There's so much competition in our back row and our squad, I think we just keep pushing each other and helping each other improve. I'm learning so much off them and I'd say they're learning things off me."
The young flanker also praised the leadership of Edel McMahon:
"She's helped me so much. I'm so lucky to be around such a great person on the pitch and off the pitch. She helps me with anything I need."
Looking Ahead Ireland face Italy in their next Six Nations clash, with King targeting improved accuracy:
- Match broadcast live on BBC platforms
- Kickoff at 14:45 BST
"We'll go in with loads of confidence," King added. "We can tweak the things that weren't as good as we know they can be, and just be a little bit more accurate around the park."
