Norwich City's Goalkeeper Angus Gunn in Contract Limbo: What's Next for the Canaries' Star?
Norwich City goalkeeper Angus Gunn expresses concerns over the lack of communication regarding his contract renewal, raising questions about his future with the club.

Contract Uncertainty for Angus Gunn
Norwich City's first-choice goalkeeper, Angus Gunn, has revealed that there has been "no communication" from the club regarding a new contract offer. The Scotland international’s current deal with the Canaries is set to expire at the end of this season, but renewal talks have yet to be initiated.
Gunn’s Concerns and Future Plans
In an interview with BBC Radio Norfolk, Gunn expressed his concerns about the lack of clarity regarding his future. "I've not heard anything from the club, which is a worry," he said when asked about his prospects of staying with Norwich next season. The 29-year-old goalkeeper, who has missed the team's last two games due to a hamstring injury, emphasized the importance of "clarity" for both his professional and personal life.
"I hope more than anything just for a bit of clarity really—I've got a family and I need to look to the future," Gunn added. "For a professional player, the main thing is to have that clarity and know where you're going to be."
Ties to Norwich and Career Highlights
Gunn, the son of Norwich goalkeeping legend Bryan Gunn, has strong ties to the club. He was born and raised in Norwich and has always been a supporter of the Canaries. "It's where I was born, it's where I grew up, and obviously, it's the club I support," he said. "It's a dream come true to play at Carrow Road and get the opportunities I have done at this club."
Since rejoining Norwich from Southampton in June 2021, Gunn has made 166 appearances over two spells with the club, keeping 44 clean sheets. He also spent the 2017-18 season on loan with Norwich from Manchester City.
Open to Staying, but Awaiting Communication
Despite the uncertainty, Gunn remains open to staying at Carrow Road. "If the opportunity comes and they come speak to me and say that I'm wanted, then definitely it's something I would like to hear and have a conversation about," he said. Gunn has expressed gratitude to the club and its fans, acknowledging the role they’ve played in his career. "I owe a lot to them in my career, and a lot of people that have been here at the club have been massive parts of why I am here today."
As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Norwich City to see how they handle Gunn’s contract situation. Will the Canaries retain their star goalkeeper, or will Gunn be forced to explore other opportunities? Only time will tell.
