Wayne Rooney and Tyson Fury to Co-Manage England in Soccer Aid 2025: A Star-Studded Charity Showdown

Wayne Rooney and Tyson Fury will co-manage England in Soccer Aid 2025, a star-studded charity football match at Old Trafford, raising funds for Unicef.

Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and legendary England striker Wayne Rooney are set to co-manage the England team in Soccer Aid 2025, a highly anticipated charity football match. The event, scheduled for Sunday, 15 June, will take place at Old Trafford, the iconic home of Rooney’s former club, Manchester United. This year’s match promises to be a thrilling spectacle, with both Rooney and Fury bringing their unique charisma and competitive spirit to the pitch.

A Star-Studded Lineup

Rooney, who will also come out of retirement to play, will be joined by former teammates Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, adding a nostalgic touch to the game. The England squad will also feature debutants like Joe Hart, Steph Houghton, and Toni Duggan, alongside returning stars such as singer Louis Tomlinson, Sam Quek, Paddy McGuinness, Tom Grennan, and Sir Mo Farah.

On the opposing side, the World XI will include former Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci and Denmark forward Nadia Nadim, with the rest of the squad yet to be announced. The match is expected to be a clash of titans, with both teams boasting a mix of football legends and celebrity talent.

A Legacy of Giving

Since its inception in 2006, Soccer Aid has raised over £106 million for Unicef, making it one of the most successful charity football events in the world. Last year’s match at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge alone raised more than £15 million, and this year’s event at Old Trafford is poised to surpass that figure.

Fury’s Excitement

Fury, a self-proclaimed Manchester United fan, expressed his enthusiasm for the event: “The prospect of leading my England team to victory this June fills me with just as much excitement as any heavyweight fight. It’s even more special for me that the game is at Old Trafford this year, and I get to manage one of my heroes, Wayne Rooney.”

Rooney’s Return

Rooney, who managed at the 2020 Soccer Aid and played in the following year’s game, shared his excitement about teaming up with Fury: “I’m a big boxing fan, so to do it alongside Tyson Fury is fantastic. We have this in common - we’ll both be taking it incredibly seriously. It’s great to lace up the old boots again - and see some old friends.”

A Night to Remember

With a blend of footballing excellence, celebrity charm, and a noble cause, Soccer Aid 2025 is set to be an unforgettable night. Fans can expect a high-energy match filled with memorable moments, all in support of Unicef’s vital work around the world.
