Calum Hill Triumphs in Thrilling Joburg Open Playoff with Stellar 62
Calum Hill secured a dramatic victory at the Joburg Open, shooting a remarkable 62 to force a playoff and claim his second DP World Tour title.

In an exhilarating finish to the Joburg Open, Scotland's Calum Hill emerged victorious after a nail-biting playoff against Shaun Norris and Jacques Kruyswijk. Hill's stunning eight-under-par 62 in the final round propelled him from eight shots behind to force a three-way playoff, ultimately clinching his second DP World Tour win.
Final Round Drama
Hill, starting the day eight shots behind overnight leader Norris, delivered a masterclass in precision and composure. His round featured five birdies and just one bogey on each nine, marking the low round of the tournament. Norris, who had led comfortably, faltered under pressure but managed to birdie the final hole to join Hill and Kruyswijk in the playoff.
Playoff Showdown
All three players parred the first playoff hole, setting the stage for high drama on the second visit to the 18th. Norris found the water with his approach, while Kruyswijk missed a critical five-foot putt. Hill, maintaining his composure, tapped in for par to secure the victory.
Hill's Journey to Victory
This triumph marks Hill's second DP World Tour title, following his win at the Cazoo Classic in 2021. The victory also catapults him into 11th place in the Race to Dubai rankings, a significant boost for the world number 286.
Runner-Up Finishes
Kruyswijk, who had been in contention throughout the final round, finished with a solid 66 to join the playoff. Norris, despite a roller-coaster round, carded a level-par 70 to remain in the mix.
A Historic Win
Hill's victory is especially significant as he becomes the first Scot to win the Joburg Open, adding another chapter to Scotland's rich golfing history.
