Brentford's first-team coach, Justin Cochrane, has officially joined Thomas Tuchel's England backroom staff. At 43 years old, Cochrane will continue his role at Brentford while also contributing his expertise to the Three Lions. This dual role highlights his growing reputation in football coaching.
Cochrane's coaching journey is marked by his work with young talents. He has previously managed England's Under-15s, Under-16s, and Under-17s teams, nurturing players like Noni Madueke, Lewis Hall, and Rico Lewis, who have all progressed to become full internationals.
A Career of Experience
Cochrane's playing career spanned 13 years, with a notable stint at Crewe Alexandra in the Championship, where he made 72 appearances between 2003 and 2006. Transitioning into coaching, he began at Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Manchester United as the head of player development and coaching at the club's academy.
In 2022, Cochrane joined Brentford, a year after the club's promotion to the Premier League. His appointment to the England coaching staff is a testament to his impactful work at Brentford.
A New Chapter for England
Cochrane joins a backroom staff that includes Anthony Barry (assistant coach), Henrique Hilario (goalkeeping coach), and Nicolas Mayer (performance coach). This team is set to support Tuchel in his first game as England manager on 21 March, when the Three Lions face Albania at Wembley Stadium.
