Max Pepper's Move to Bristol Bears: A New Chapter in Rugby Career
Max Pepper, Newcastle Falcons' winger, is set to join Bristol Bears next season, rejecting a new contract from his current club. Learn more about this exciting transfer.

Max Pepper, the talented winger from Newcastle Falcons, is making a significant move to Bristol Bears next season, as confirmed by Bristol's director of rugby, Pat Lam. This transfer comes after Pepper chose not to renew his contract with the Newcastle-based club, despite being offered an improved deal.
Steve Diamond, the consultant director of rugby at Newcastle Falcons, expressed his disappointment over Pepper's decision. Diamond highlighted that Pepper was seen as a potential replacement for Adam Radwan, who recently moved to Leicester Tigers. However, the 23-year-old, who has been sidelined due to an ankle injury, will leave having played only four Premiership games for the Falcons.
Pepper's journey in rugby has been nothing short of remarkable. After leaving school without a contract, he played in New Zealand during the COVID-19 pandemic and spent three years at Durham University, competing in the BUCS Super Rugby. He was named the BUCS Super Rugby Player of the Season in 2023/24 before joining Newcastle Falcons, where he made his Gallagher Premiership debut against Bristol at Ashton Gate last April.
Pepper's versatility as a player, capable of operating as both a winger and a scrum-half, has been a key factor in his career. Speaking about his move to Bristol, Pepper expressed his gratitude towards Newcastle for the opportunities they provided but believes that Bristol's style of play will better suit his skills. "I am looking forward to the next few years of my development with Bristol," he said.
Pat Lam, Bristol Bears' director of rugby, praised Pepper as a "talented young player who certainly fits the way we like to play." He also emphasized Pepper's versatility and his hunger to continue growing as a player. With Bristol planning to run a smaller squad next season, having versatile players like Pepper is crucial.
This transfer marks an exciting new chapter in Max Pepper's rugby career, as he aims to make a significant impact with Bristol Bears in the upcoming season.
