Dan Ashworth Shifts Focus to Warwickshire Cricket Club After Manchester United Exit
Dan Ashworth, former Manchester United sporting director, now advises Warwickshire Cricket Club on performance strategy, continuing his voluntary role since 2021.

Former Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth has turned his attention to cricket, now playing a pivotal role in advising the Warwickshire County Cricket Club on their performance strategy. Despite his recent departure from Manchester United, Ashworth continues his voluntary and unpaid association with Warwickshire, a role he initially took up in 2021.
Ashworth’s extensive sports management experience includes a significant previous engagement with cricket, where he contributed to a high-performance review for the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2022. His expertise is expected to bring a fresh perspective to Warwickshire, which struggled last season, finishing seventh in the County Championship and exiting early in the T20 Blast and One Day Cup.
This move comes after a turbulent period at Manchester United, marked by substantial financial losses and strategic shifts towards profitability, including staff layoffs. Ashworth’s brief yet impactful tenure at United ended in December, with the club incurring a significant cost for his departure.
Warwickshire fans await the strategic changes Ashworth might bring to their team, hoping for a turnaround in their upcoming cricket season.
