Rory McIlroy’s TGL Struggles Continue as The Bay Stages Dramatic Last-Hole Victory
Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf Club suffers a third straight loss in TGL as The Bay clinches a thrilling 5-4 victory with a final-hole eagle.

Shane Lowry’s The Bay delivered a stunning performance to defeat Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf Club in the Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL) triple-header on Monday in Florida. The match concluded with a dramatic final-hole eagle by Wyndham Clark, sealing a 5-4 victory for The Bay. McIlroy, co-fronting the indoor competition alongside Tiger Woods, played alongside Keegan Bradley and Hideki Matsuyama, but the Boston team fell to 0-3 in the league’s inaugural season.
The Bay’s victory marked their second win of the day, bolstered by Ludvig Aberg, who joined the team less than 24 hours after his PGA Tour win at the Genesis Invitational. Earlier, The Bay had edged out Atlanta Drive GC 6-5 in a closely contested match. Justin Thomas nearly forced overtime with an eagle putt, but it narrowly missed, allowing The Bay to maintain their lead.
In the day’s first match, Atlanta Drive GC defeated Los Angeles Golf Club in a nail-biting overtime finish. Tommy Fleetwood of LA tied the 14th hole with a 17-foot putt, but Thomas outplayed Sahith Theegala to secure the win. Atlanta’s Patrick Cantlay also shone in the nearest-the-pin challenge, finishing closer than Theegala to clinch the victory.
The action continues on Wednesday (00:00 GMT) as Tiger Woods returns to TGL for the first time since his mother’s passing. His Jupiter Links Golf Club will face New York Golf Club, setting the stage for another thrilling encounter in this innovative league.
