Olivia Clark's Journey: Euro 2025 Qualification, Nations League, and a New Chapter with Leicester City

Olivia Clark shares her experiences from Euro 2025 qualification, the Nations League, and her move to Leicester City, highlighting key moments and future aspirations.

In her latest column for BBC Sport, Olivia Clark reflects on a transformative period in her career, from securing Wales' place in Euro 2025 to her unexpected move back to the Women's Super League (WSL) with Leicester City.

Euro 2025 Qualification: A Historic Achievement

November marked a pivotal moment for Welsh women's football as they faced the Republic of Ireland in a play-off final for Euro 2025. Despite a challenging start with a 1-1 draw in Cardiff, the team rallied to secure a decisive victory in Dublin. 'The celebrations were incredible,' Clark recalls. 'That night will probably be the best night of our lives.'

Nations League: A Stepping Stone to Success

With Euro 2025 on the horizon, the Nations League represents the perfect preparation for Wales. 'It’s the best preparation we could possibly have,' says Clark. Drawn in a tough group, Wales embraces the underdog role, viewing the competition as a chance to fine-tune their strategy ahead of the summer's major tournament.

A New Chapter with Leicester City

Clark's move to Leicester City from FC Twente came as a surprise, even to her. 'I didn't plan to come back so soon, but Leicester felt right,' she explains. The decision was driven by her desire to be in the best possible position professionally and personally ahead of Euro 2025. 'The facilities and coaching are top-class, and I feel I can truly develop here.'

Reflections and Looking Ahead

Clark's journey has been marked by resilience and growth. From her Champions League experience with Twente to her current focus on securing a spot in Leicester's first XI, she remains committed to her development. 'I’ve no regrets about moving to Twente—it taught me a lot. But now, I’m ready for this next chapter.'

As Wales gears up for the Nations League and beyond, Clark's story is one of determination and ambition, both on and off the pitch.
