Georgia Bell Triumphs at Millrose Games: A Night of Record-Breaking Performances

Georgia Bell secures a personal best in the mile race at the Millrose Games, while world records tumble in a spectacular evening of athletics.

New York, February 9, 2025 – British middle-distance runner Georgia Bell delivered a stunning performance at the prestigious Millrose Games, winning the women's mile race with a personal best time of 4:23.35. This victory adds another feather to the cap of the Olympic 1500m bronze medallist, who demonstrated her dominance on the track by outpacing American contenders Heather MacLean and Nikki Hiltz.

Record-Breaking Evening The 117th edition of the Millrose Games was not just about Bell's triumph. The night was marked by several record-breaking performances, making it a historic event in the world of indoor athletics.

  • Yared Nuguse set a new world indoor record in the men's mile, clocking an astonishing 3:46.63.
  • Grant Fisher broke the world record in the 3,000m, finishing with a time of 7:22.91, narrowly ahead of Olympic champion Cole Hocker.

Hurdles Highlights In the sprint hurdles, Olympic 100m hurdles champion Masai Russell continued her winning streak by securing the 60m hurdles with a world-leading time of 7.76 seconds. Meanwhile, Dylan Beard emerged victorious in the men's 60m hurdles, also setting a world-leading time of 7.38 seconds.

Sprint Showdowns The men's and women's 60m races were equally thrilling. Marcellus Moore took the men's title with a time of 6.56 seconds, while Jacious Sears won the women's race in a world-leading 7.02 seconds.

Absentees Unfortunately, the British contingent was not at full strength as World 1500m champion Josh Kerr had to withdraw from the men's mile race due to illness, leaving the stage clear for Nuguse to steal the show.

This year's Millrose Games will be remembered for its high-octane performances and historic achievements, setting the tone for an exciting year in athletics.
