Lakers' Luka Doncic and Dorian Finney-Smith Reignite Their Dallas Chemistry
Luka Doncic and Dorian Finney-Smith reunite with the Lakers, bringing their Dallas Mavericks synergy to Los Angeles.

In an exciting turn of events, Luka Doncic has embarked on a new journey with the Los Angeles Lakers, reuniting with his former teammate Dorian Finney-Smith. Having spent over four seasons together with the Dallas Mavericks, their camaraderie on the court is set to blossom in a new environment.
On December 29, the Lakers made a significant move by trading for Finney-Smith from the Brooklyn Nets. Recent highlights include Finney-Smith sharing a series of action shots in his new Lakers jersey, sporting the number 17. This prompted Doncic, a former Maverick and now a Laker, to playfully tease his old friend by commenting, "Why didn't you get 77?" — a nod to his own jersey number.
The trade that brought Doncic to the Lakers was nothing short of blockbuster. In the deal, the Lakers sent Anthony Davis, rising star Max Christie, and a first-round pick to the Mavericks. The Utah Jazz also joined the fray, acquiring guard Jalen Hood-Schifino from Los Angeles in a three-team trade.
Having shared the court for 4½ seasons, the bond between Doncic and Finney-Smith is evident. After the two players faced off in October 2023, Doncic expressed how much he misses his teammate, stating, "We will play again for sure." Their reunion is set to electrify fans as Doncic, now donning the iconic purple and gold, gears up for a highly-anticipated debut with the Lakers.
When asked about his excitement regarding reuniting with Finney-Smith, Doncic rated it a perfect 10. "That's my guy, man. We basically grew up as players together in Dallas. I’m really excited about this opportunity to play alongside him again!"
Finney-Smith has already made an impact in his brief time with the Lakers, averaging 6.9 points and 3.1 rebounds over 14 games. As Doncic prepares to take the floor this coming Saturday against the Indiana Pacers, the synergy built in Dallas is bound to add a new layer of intrigue to the Lakers' campaign this season.
