Tyler Guyton's Road to Recovery: Cowboys' LT Aims for Week 1 Comeback After Knee Scare
Dallas Cowboys' left tackle Tyler Guyton overcomes a knee injury scare, aiming to return for Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Tyler Guyton's Knee Injury Scare
FRISCO, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys' starting left tackle Tyler Guyton faced a significant scare during training camp when he experienced a throbbing pain in his right knee after a collision on July 28 in Oxnard, California. Initially fearing a season-ending ACL injury, Guyton underwent an MRI that revealed a broken bone in his knee instead.
Relief and Recovery
"I was extremely relieved to hear that I didn't tear my ACL," Guyton said. "It was a lot of highs and lows, but I just made sure I kept my focus on the right things... like talking to the Lord when I was in that situation."
Guyton has started some on-field resistance training and is hopeful to be available for the Sept. 4 season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. "I want to play in every game," Guyton said, "but I'm going to leave that up to them."
Leadership Changes Under Brian Schottenheimer
Former head coach Mike McCarthy did not believe in naming season-long captains, preferring to rotate them weekly. However, Brian Schottenheimer, McCarthy's successor, plans to have players vote on season-long captains after the final cuts. Schottenheimer will also rotate an additional captain each week to recognize deserving players.
Final 53-Man Roster Projection
The final 53-man roster projection for the Cowboys was a challenging task. Key decisions included choosing six-year veteran Miles Sanders over Phil Mafah for the final running back spot and selecting Princeton Fant at tight end due to Brevyn Spann-Ford's high ankle sprain.
Looking Ahead
As the Cowboys prepare for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on Tyler Guyton's recovery and the team's leadership dynamics under Brian Schottenheimer. The decisions made in the coming days will shape the Cowboys' strategy and performance in the 2025 NFL season.
